Helen Haller Elementary was named after one of our former teachers and Principal. Originally built in the early 1970's as a Grade 5 & 6 Intermediate school, it was transformed into the "New" elementary school with the addition of the satellite classrooms or pods in 1979. Helen Haller has a dedicated staff of 100 which includes 29 classroom teachers, 25 Specialists, 36 Highly Qualified Paraeducators, 4 Office Staff, 3 Lunchroom Personnel and 3 Custodians. We currently have about 615 students attending.
Last year we had around 200 volunteers that come to read with our students, help with math, or assist teachers with clerical work. We also have strong ties to community activities, witnessed by our relationship with the local fire department, art museum and national park. This provides our children with opportunities for field trips to many different places that enrich their learning with hands-on activities.
